Boy who killed burglar tells of fight for justice

The student Omari Roberts, 21 years old tells about what happened after he stabbed a 14-year old burglar to death. On Friday, March 13 last year Omari went to his 47-year-old mother Jacqueline in Basford, Nottingham, to have lunch. When he arrived, he saw that the glass was broken from the backdoor and was shocked. He went in the house and bumped into a 14-year old boy and fought with each other. The boy ran off, but there was another boy who got stabbed by Omari during their confrontation. Omari called the police, but he thought that they were going to help him, but they arrested him on suspicion of murder. After some trials he got free after the CPS DROPPED the charges for that Omari acted because of self-defense. But Omari says that the laws need to be changed.

I would have done the same as Omari, not try to kill the burglar but cut his finger off or something and wait for the police. The thing is that I will be the guilty one according to the laws. It does not make sense, the burglar comes in my house and I am not allowed to defense myself. Okay I can call the police but that would take to much time and the burglar would left with all my stuff. What would you do?

  1. I would definately not harm the burglar. If someone tries to kill me, I would harm him, but a simple burglar (14 years old for crying out loud) I would not harm. I would try to remember his face very clearly and let the cops chase that kiddo. Why on earth kill a boy of 14 years old? I think that is no solution!
